Description
Officially named the Tricity region in 2007, Gdansk, Gdynia, and Sopot form a scenic Baltic Sea area. This tour begins in Gdansk’s Old Town, known for its Renaissance architecture and historical sites along Długa Street. Key stops include the Golden Gate, Town Hall, Neptune Fountain, Arthur's Court, Green Gate overlooking the Motława River, the Museum of Arthur's Court, and the Amber Chamber featuring an amber polishing demonstration and lecture. Visit the Old Crane, a symbol of Gdansk, and St. Mary’s Church, Europe’s largest Gothic brick church.
Next, visit the Oliwa district and the 16th-century Oliwa Cathedral, famed for its organs and an organ recital. This 3-nave basilica combines Baroque, Rococo, and Renaissance styles and was consecrated in 1594. Afterward, travel to Gdynia Harbor to tour the Dar Pomorza, a historic tall sailing frigate built in 1909. Once a sail training ship and winner of the Cutty Sark Trophy in 1980, the ship is now a museum featuring the Twin Deck, historical exhibits, and sailing artifacts.
The tour concludes in Sopot, where you will stroll the waterfront promenade and walk along the longest wooden pier in Europe, stretching over 500 meters into the Bay of Gdansk. The pier offers views of Sopot’s distinctive terracotta-tiled architecture.
